The Scars of Yesterday

by Christina McDowell   Dec 25, 2006

Every cut stings
Every shout rings
Every glance is cold
Every comment is bold

I feel so alone
Waiting for the phone
Knowing the truth hurts
Making me feel like dirt

I feel empty within
But the scars aren't on my skin
They make me reminisce
And long for your kiss

Let's make a wish
Upon the lucky goldfish
i remembered our words
But I just can't afford

To live life this way
To dread another day
And learn how to not care
It's more than I can bear

It's more than I can handle
As you leave me hung here, dangled
I gave everything up for you
I became so true

Every slash leaves a scar
Cutting me from afar

Every scar is a memory
Yet they aren't on my body
Every cut leaves a memory
They are within my body

Marked up inside my brain
Getting killed by the pain...

    Pretty good.
I can feel the emotions in the poem, that you want to get across to the reader. Wonderful job on that. But the problem to me was that I think that you were trying to force some of your rhyming and the messed up the poem a bit.
Overall, it was a great poem! =] You've got a lot of talent as a writer, keep it up! 5/5
