A New World

by debbylyn   Dec 26, 2006

I looked down from the clouds the other day
The things I saw, I must say
Weren't as good as they were before
We ever had that nuclear war
The trees were gone, and where they stood
Were charred and blackened sticks of wood
Holes were where our homes once sat
I wonder now just where they're at
Our backyard garden now was bare
A funny odor filled the air
No birds sang in the Summer sun
No children playing, having fun
The world had come to a slower pace
One without us- the human race
We tried to look too far ahead
Now all of us are finally dead
But then I saw it
A tiny dot
Growing green in a sunlit spot
A budding leaf
Now two
No three!
The little green plants were all around me
The world would live after all we'd done
A world with green and blue and sun
It would be better
I know it must
For it would be a world
Without us

Nice poem. It describes how we have pretty much destroyed mother natures beauty with our human-made weapons. Nicely done. God Bless 5/5
