Winter's Five Senses

by Amanda   Dec 27, 2006

I see it dropping from the sky,
like little twinkle of sunshine
melting from every touch
racing to my skin, one at a time

I feel it's cold vibration,
numbing my every move
locking my fingers and toes
as I'm forced to remove

I can hear the growling winds,
swaying my body side to side
half blinded from the snow's abuse
numb... but obligated to guide

I can taste it melting,
allowing every taste bud to freeze
like small unsweetened popsilces
made to melt, made to tease

I can smell no more than fresh air,
passing thru my frozen nose
enhaling nothing more similar than ice cubes
forcing it's way down my clothes

It's a battle between winter and I
For I am left to defeat it every year
I'm sure I'll win again
for I always wear my winter gear
