Soul's Reminder

by Twisted Heart   Dec 27, 2006

Inside the heart of broken shame
Of a lonely lullaby
Among the ruffled pages of
music left to write,
There is a song, that grows within
And put there on display
Misted by the teardrops
Of a soul that died today.

Gathered in the winter's crest
Beneath the driven snow
Comes the hand of loneliness
Bit by the icy cold
Entwined by all the bitter thoughts
That lies could not appease
Now fights against the barren wind
With no hope to find release.

A simple word to hold with grace
The heart now takes the lead
Into the darkened winter night
On faith's sweet gentle stead
Riding through the rough terrain
Of haunted memories
Loaded with the comfort thoughts
Of how it used to be.

To hold a dream within your grasp
And feel its warm caress
Would surely give your wounded mind
A chance to take a rest
Upon the stars that shine within
A broken soul tonight
The path of understanding
is the one that holds the light.
