Can you hear a child's cry?
The weeping on these cold lonely nights
Wishing upon a star for peace within this world
Praying to the Lord above to forgive these mortal sins
That we us people make
Can you hear each child’s voices?
Asking for help
Looking for shelters
Looking for foods
Looking for a piece of clothing
To keep them warm on these cold lonely nights
Can you feel the pain that they feel inside?
When they see bullets being shot
Bodies being killed
As blood pour out on the floor
Can you see the plead in their eyes
Asking to stop these hatred
That we us people make
Asking for love
That they have not felt before
How can you sit there and not feel the guilt
When you hear a child crying at night?
The torture they feel
As bruises come upon their little body
The fear in their eyes
When they see mommy and daddy fighting
These are the things that a child’s eye sees
As they walk on this crucial world
How can we, us people, say that everything is alright
When we cant even protect our very own children?
How can we protect our children
When crime has not been solved
When discrimination still has its existence
How can we tell our children that the things are safe
When cities and countries
Are bombarded with ammunitions
How can we set a good example on a child
When drug dealers are out on the streets
Leading these children on the wrong path
Making poor choices within their self
The innocence of a child when they cry at night
Pleading the Lord, “Please oh please, make these all go away.â€
