The Perfect Xmas?

by Jenni Marie   Dec 27, 2006

Christmas is supposed to be a happy time
The time of year where you don't have to pretend you're fine.

You're supposed to be happy
You're supposed to smile
You're not supposed to pretend
And be full of guile.

You're not supposed to spend all your time
Praying for it to end
Or constantly wishing
For your broken heart to mend.

But that's how I spent my Christmas
I put on a brave, smiling face
I pretended I was okay
And I hid my fall from grace.

I smiled on pictures
I laughed with friends
And hidden in my mind
I wished it all to end.

I did such a good acting job
People said they'd never seen me laugh so much
They didn't know I was unhappy
And it was all getting to much.

So that was my Christmas
Full of fake smiles
A perfect Christmas
Filled with guile.

How very sad. I think we all put on false faces sometimes to keep others we love from being sad. Great job!

I think that there are people that can relate to this one on every day of the year especially Christmas. Mine wasn't as good as it could be either.
You did a wonderful job writing this one, keep it up! 5/5
