It wasn\'t supposed to end like this.

That girl next to the phone
Is waiting for her granddaddy to call
Today he would take her to the zoo
It was bound to be anything but dull

What she didn\'t know was he wasn\'t going to call,
He wasn\'t going to take her to the zoo,
He never showed up that day,
It would later be on the news.

The girl was frustrated, she threw a fit,
She loved her granddaddy with all her heart
but she was betrayed,
this was bound to tear their friendship apart.

the phone started to ring, and the girl wanted to ignore it
but the anwering machine explained, her grandpa did not intend to miss,
infact he was killed in a car accident.
flying into the anwser machine she pounded with her fist.

This girl was upset, and felt anger towards God.
its not like he bailed on purpose
as the girl began to tremble
it wasn\'t supposed to end up like this

Tears began to fill her eyes,
and her vision is becoming blurry,
she clutched to her teddy bear
and laid down very tiredly.

all she had left was that teddy bear of hers
she felt so alone and so empty inside
her grandfather gave it to her, to comfort her
so she hugged it as she cried.

she felt alone
because he would be missed.
but she couldn\'t help but think
it shouldn\'t have ended like this.
