Rambling Thoughts and Scares

I used to think
that people who believed
in soul mates were people
that can only make excuses
for their loneliness.
But then I realized,
so many people
go through life searching,
excavating, longing,
for what we had...
Many of those people won’t find it.
Then I got to thinking:
what if it only happens once,
and I already screwed my chances
of happiness with you?
What makes us think
that this will happen ever again?
What gives me the idea
that I will find someone
nearly as spectacular as you,
someone who makes me
half as happy as you do?
