I Set Myself Up

I should have seen this coming,
But I ignored that pleading voice,
My conscience was tossed aside,
I didn’t even have a choice.

I fell for his stupid charm,
The words he wrote out as clear as day,
Too bad I thought they meant something,
But yet again, he’s had his way.

I set myself up for heartbreak,
So now I face my fate,
They say third time’s the charm,
But this is three times too late.
