To My Dismay

by Rebecca   Dec 31, 2006

Everyday, my eyes are glazed with the same resentment,
My disappointment is becoming even more translucent.
Never changing, it is always the same with you,
Making me feel forgotten and profoundly blue.

Growing up, I have always looked up to you,
You were my sister, my kin and friend, too.
This may sound harsh, but what it holds is true,
Now, I am just glad I did not take after you.

I always wonder what ever happened to you.
I know the painful divorce shattered your world, too.
It was hard for you to grow up without a father,
But, to grow up without a father AND a sister, is even a greater bother.

Days turned into months; months into years,
The memories forgotten drowned in my vacant tears.
Someday, your remorse will haunt you, day by day,
And it will drown your will to fly far, far away.

Now, do not get me wrong,
My love for you still grows strong.
Across whatever distance we share far away,
You mean the world to me and I think about you every day.
