Instigator

by ari   Jan 2, 2007

Eyes smiling,
lips laughing.
Her head thrown back,
in unconcealed mirth.
Emotions rushing,
sounds cascading.
Instigator of joy.

Crinkled hands writing,
sunlight
getting lost
in the leathery wrinkles.
Expressions pushing up on
unrelenting cheeks.
She's done with the pen,
and continues to push
the stamp into place.
Instigator of postcards.

His hands flying,
the callouses grown
and nurtured with
disappointment and hate,
beating anger
into my sister,
for just smiling a
secret smile.
Instigator of pain.

Mouth set,
crooked handwriting
forming into
incomprehensible words.
Cheeks flushed
and body tense
from hiding things
behind blue eyes.
Me.
Instigator of words.
