Man With No Name

by DistantKisses   Jan 3, 2007

The cool autumn wind blew throughout the big city.
It was a lonely day as one girl walked alone.
She was coming from her school as she hummed a soft tune.

This girl never smiled.
This girl never cried.
She was a numb child since the day she died.

Her tune echoed throughout the empty sidewalk.
She wasn't dead physically anyway.
It was her emotions that she lacked.
Love, happiness, loneliness.
Yet she still managed to make everyone happy when she was around.
She was like a sponge.
Absorbing everyone's pain as her own.

Never had she smiled.
Never had she cried.
She was just a numb child the day she died.

And as she picked up her head, she caught sight of someone's eyes.
Her tune stopped as the person neared her.
Still she continued to walk.
And as their paths did cross.
Their eyes did meet.
His eyes cold as ice.

She did not smile.
She did not cry.
She remained as numb as the autumn sky.

At that moment she remembered.
She had never witnessed eyes as cold as her brother's.
Until now.
This man's eyes were hard and scornful.
Like her brother's had been.
Like they had always been.
Cold, regretful, hateful.
Until the day he died.
She stopped for a moment as he walked on by.
Her brother's image clear in her head.
For it was the first time she could remember his face.

And she smiled.
And she cried.
And she wasn"t a numb child because she was revived.

As the tears fell from her softened eyes.
She could swear the man had stopped just for a split second.
But she didn't turn to face him.
As the wind pushed against her back.
She just hung her head and sobbed silently.
Though a smile lie on her lips.
Her brother's last words resounded in her mind.

"Smile for me.
Cry for me.
But don t you ever die for me.
We'll meet again you'll see.
At Heaven's gates with mum and dad.
I'll be waiting little sis.
We'll make up for lost times.
And neither of us will cry.
We'll smile and laugh and everything will be fine.
Never forget me.
I'll never forget you.
I love you always, little brat.
This isn't goodbye, just see you around."

She would smile.
She would cry.
Until the day she finally would die.

All thanks to the man with no name.
And the lonely autumn day.
Forever her life was changed.
In the form of a man with no name.

This was very good. It contained so many emotions. Sadness, lonliness and hope. Nice job!
