Respect vs. self-respect

by teh legend   Jan 3, 2007

I'm tired of being the fall guy
making fun of myself so you can get by
my works were a tragic comedy
aimed at hilarity but everyone cried
like the worst clown in the world i felt denied
but flava flav may be goin out like that
but i ain't goin out like flava flav
i'd rather true friends than the social grave
class clown you may be and everyone's friend
but just like the army be all you can be
ain't nobody told you to embarrass me
respect your god and your self before others
it may not be what you were taught
but your previous learnings seem to be for naught
everything they led you to was ignorant tripe
be the descartes, learn it all on your own
it's the teaching to others where they'll hang up the phone
it's time that you knew that you come first in the end
solipsism ain't fact but there's one cage it rattles
fix your own faults before you fight other battles
