Streets of Imagination

by Mommy And Me   Jan 3, 2007

Streets of Imagination

My castle is this cardboard box
I pretend to be a princess
And a prince in shining armour
Is coming to rescue me

My feast is the half eaten apple
My imagination makes it a turkey
With roast beef, and some French fries
And some gravy on the side

This ground, is my queen sized bed
So hard and cold to sleep on
But still I pretend I am a princess
With a prince coming to my rescue

My name is Emily Skye,
And this street is my home
So I pretend it’s my kingdom
For I am 6 years old

Wow Terra, this was really good! I loved the imagery I got from it! Deep but it was soo good! It's sad the way things have to be...

Aw I loved this poem, its so sad, yet also so beautiful and full of hope. And you managed to capture all of that in this short little poem. The title is what drew me to this in the first place.. very creative and very fitting to the poems message. It also showed the power of a child's imagination and how strong children can be in the face of adversity. Wonderful write, thanx for sharing it with us all.

The topic is sad, yet you don't make it depressing. That's great, reading about a little girl that is either ignorant, or simply makes the best of her circumstances. Good write good write!
