When a loved one dies

by BECCA lessTHANthree   Jan 4, 2007

Increased silence
An empty room
A dreary house
Filled with gloom

Shutting doors
lock up tight
things left untouched
and out of sight

tears are falling
hitting hard
no ones letting
down their guard

depression lurking
in the air
you cant escape
whats everywhere

Sunlights hitting
Floating dust,
Falling down
And covering up

A house forgotten
Chaotic mess
Dishes piling
With the stress

a lack of smiles
Filled by cries
happens when..
a loved one dies

It made me cry because it brought back memories, eh.

You did a great job with this poem. It gives a great description. I could imagine the house, the feelings, and when it said " tears are falling hitting hard" I imagined a huge tear shaking a house.
You're a great poet, and I love your way of writing.

    Wow!
This was so very sad...but such a pleasure to read!
I have tears in my eyes from reading this.
The flow was perfect, the imagery astounding and I enjoyed the rhyme scheme.

Sad write. I think it describes the saddness of loosing a loved one quite well.
Again, being honest, there were cliche ideas in this too. It's why I tend not to read sad poetry, because its so easy to step into that hole of cliches.
    Good effort though.
