Hey Mr. Bartender

by Cody   Jan 4, 2007

Hey Mr. Bartender... pour me one more shot
No no... its ok. let my liver rot
Hey Mr. Bartender... help me make it go away
Come on... help me survive one more day

Hey Mr. Bartender... how can I set this pain free
Whats that... you say you can help me
Alright Mr. Bartender I'll bite
... What can you do to help me tonight

What Mr. Bartender?... theres a cost you say
Well that makes sense...nobody ever gave anything good away
Hold on Mr. Bartender... have the lights gotten dimmer
And is it just me... or have you grown taller, darker, and thinner

Oh well... it doesn't matter I guess
Not when everything is such a mess
Hey Mr. Bartender...what do you offer me
Wow... ultimate power, happiness, and most of all to be free

I'm sure that has a high price
But... all that would fix my life
Hey Mr. Bartender... What will I have to pay
What part of me am I losing today

Wow... that price is steep
My soul is something I'd like to keep
Yes, that would lift my despair
But without a soul would I even feel enough to care

Hey Mr. Bartender... why do your eyes look so dead
Look at that... they even glow red
No no... your right
Thats not the issue tonight

I'm not sure I could part with my soul
Even though I feel so cold
Sure... it has begun to rot
But in the end... my soul is all I've got

Hey Mr. Bartender... sorry, but it's time for me to go
And even though my pain is great and my happiness is low...
I'd rather find happiness by myself
I don't need your help... or the help of anyone else

At least now I'm still me
I guess that is being free

I got bored, but it's obvious this poem means a great deal to you. You can easily picture everything happening, but it got repetitive for me after a while. Still, I've read much much worse.
