Shattered Memories

by Gem   Jan 4, 2007

I remember you pushing me on the swings
Holding my hand as I slid down a slide
Building sand castles in the sand pit
Kissing my grazes when I fell and cried

I remember the times you'd make a special tea
Sausage, mash and beans arranged in a face
Your special ice creams in a big blue bowl
With surprise fillings down at the base

I remember you putting Madonna on
We'd dance and sing into your hairbrush
I always thought you were so beautiful
As you smiled at me with your cheeks so flushed

I remember when you'd tuck me into bed
Making sure that I had my teddy bear
You'd softly kiss my head with such love
Sing me to sleep as you stroked my hair

I remember when you left me on my own
You made it clear you didn't want to know
All that's left now is shattered memories
That I keep in my heart from so long ago ©
