Secrets

by Anna La Fleur   Jan 5, 2007

Sitting alone,
Sun bright and shining,
Joyful sounds surrounding her,
The happiness of others,
With the promise of a good tomorrow.
She smiles, laughs, makes jokes
She does her work without complaint
She should be content.
Should be.
Would be.
Can't be.
Her past haunts her.
Her secrets tell her she'll never belong.
She tries to fight it.
But in her heart she knows it's true.
