Scared

by Melika   Jan 7, 2007

My body is shaking
But I am not cold
Until my feet hit that edge
My heart is going to bulge.

Looking behind me upside down
I'm hoping not to drown
There is screaming and yelling
But all I'm hearing is my heart beat.

The sound of the buzzer in my ears
Is like the signal of no more fears
My body hits the water like it is air
And I'm flying on these wings so fair.

Water and I moving as one
Two more laps and then I'm done
My arms have turned to lead
And theres aching, in my head.

Finally my hands hit that last wall
And the numbers create a big smile
My body is jelly as I reach to shake hands
Maybe next time I wont be scared, out of my pants.

I wrote this poem for a class and it describes how I feel when I go to a swim meet.
If anyone competes in swimming you would know what I am talking about.
