Time Has Changed You (1994)

by Ed or Ian Henderson   Jan 9, 2007

Note: This was dug out of an old diary from 1994, and the same basic framework of words was later used as lyrics in a band I very briefly joined at that time. Only, the guitarist and band founder felt it necessary to change some of the words to make it rhyme. If anyone's genuinely interested in the alternate version I'll download that here too.

***
I thought you were a prisoner.
If only to your self.
Crying out for freedom, before you lost your mind.
The need to try live again.
At such an early age.
Obvious what was needed before you were tied down.

You'd carved your reputation.
Hate carved out of love.
Betrayed your heart's desire and yet expected sympathy.
The attempt at restitution,
The violence of words.
Sold your heart to another, expecting to treat them the same.

Though your feelings are no crime
Look at what you've done here.
Don't you see your dignity is fading into your own reality.
You've made your reputation
Lying on your back.
Betraying all your loved ones,
No self respect, youre clutching at your friends.
