The Friend

by Twisted Heart   Jan 10, 2007

They say a friend will know your need
Will stand beside you when you grieve
Will lend a hand, and give company
Promising to never leave.

The hope of all the love you share
Knowing they will find you there
An arm around you, to show they care
They always aim to please.

The search to find a friend that's true
To hold you when you're feeling blue
To take the pain that's hurting you
And hopelessness to ease.

We travel through this life in fear
Choosing roads that are unclear
With tattered words and tattered tears
We hide from those who want to see.

To have a friend who gives you hope
Who fills your life and tends your soul
And warms your heart, when it's cold
Inside my mind you always see.

You've never failed to be around
To lift my soul when its down
Sometimes acting like a clown
You are that friend to me
