Forgotten Dreams

My dreams have been forgotten
My life is just a blur
My world collapsed around me
Someone tell me how this is fair?

My past is just sad memories
The future scares me more than words can say
I'm looking for my forgotten dreams
But I can't find them-They've slipped away.

I used to dream of what I wanted
Used to dream of what I would do with my life
Used to dream of the amazing things that I would do
But in my dreams there was no strife.

I'm searching for a way to become
The person I dreamt of when I was sixteen
But I don't know if I can be that person
After the horrible things I've seen.

I just want to find the person I dreamt of
And not be secretly broken at the seams
But that shining, happy girl
Exists only...in my forgotten dreams.
