A Tragedy Happened There

by WitherBlisterBurnandPeel   Jan 15, 2007

The bails of hay won't be moved
food in the fridge won't be eaten

No more points to be proved
you'll never find us there again

Won't have to entertain a child
She grew up a long time ago

The grass might grow wild
the property will be sold

We will all try to move on
pretend like nothing happened

With no soccer on the lawn
and no horses in the barn

A new family will move in
dress the house differently

Put the memories in a bin
bury them six feet deep

But they can't take away the past
it's engraved in the property

So set the flag at half mast
A tragedy happened there

I love your rhyming pattern and how it doesn't compensate the meaning. I especially like your last two stanzas!

First let me say I love your poem. Second I like the way you spaced, keep on woking hard.
