Unforgiving

by Jemma   Jan 15, 2007

He sits on the streets
With a hand round his head
Blinked back tears
Unforgiving

He has a hand to his chest
Where your hate burnt through
And he remembers his days
And he thinks back

And his dejected pose
Is not unfamiliar
And he always sits alone
When he remembers you

Hurting him with games
When you speak out of turn
Where's your love gone?
Why do you show it and snatch it away?

He sits there out of time
Out of sync with his mind
For you were all that was left
And you've gone

The sky stares down above him
Silken weaves, a blanket of space and time
And for a few moments
He can imagine it echoes his defeat

For you love was for the highest bid
For him it could ever be for you
How could you leave him?
He only ever loved you

And he sits with a glazed expression
With the drink lying beside him
Deceiving him, he sees you there
Pouring each glass to slumber

In his dreams he is haunted
By the tempting of the fates
His eyes cheat him
For to him you are everywhere

He smiles coldly to his bottle
And lifts each kiss to his lips
But it's not so sweet as his surrender
Not so lost as he was in your eyes

He sits stooped up in the shadows
His back slipping down the wall
And his words cannot evade you
You shall feel his tears
Fought back tears,
Unforgiving
