I am the Eagle

by David Marshall   Jan 16, 2007

I soar through the sky,
confused at where I'm at.
When it rains I begin to cry,
thinking of all the things I regret.

I am the eagle,
and it's so hard to survive.
Giving pain should be illegal,
and I wonder why I'm still alive.

I'm a slave to nature,
I don't know where to go.
If I died this night,
no one would ever know.

I'm clouded by the fog,
my mind distorted by the wind.
My heart deluded by the smog,
sorrow looks at me with a grin.

Not many accept me,
but the mountains and trees.
Some say I'm free,
but there's this pain no one else sees.

I hide from thunder,
but I'm not afraid to die.
Some times I really begin to wonder,
as I sweep across the sky.
If I'm really going under,
If i should really say goodbye.

I am the eagle,
despair in every feather.
I am the eagle,
flying, comparing life to the weather.

Look, I'm the 1st to leave a comment! It's really a good poem David.. and if something were to happen to you, then you're right, I wouldn't know. If I ever hear you say goodbye to me then you will do more than just hurt yourself... I'll be devastated.. And just remember.. you're the one who told me that it doesn't matter how MANY people care... as long as there is just SOMEONE who does. Well, I'm that someone (and I know you have more). It's a really good poem though. Love you
