The Sweetest Story

by The Queen of Spades   Jan 17, 2007

The little girl inside
Whispers a song, a lie
She's a traitor to the heart
That has taken her so far
She sells her soul for some gold
To keep herself from getting old
She makes bitter, faceless love
To all the uncaring stars

And she finds nothing at all

Farther down the hole she goes
The answers lie there, all untold
But truth is only just a dream
That she never will believe
She has faith in what turns black
Does not want her cold heart back
She'll have her way with the world
Then she will just leave

And she finds nothing at all

She'll grab the knife and hold it to her skin
Hoping it will cut
When it doesn't, she knows
That her life has had enough
Her passing won't bring an epiphany, and won't mean much more
But at least her own meaning in life, that will be restored

The sweetest story ever told
Was the most bitter tale ever known
And the sharpest truth ever revealed
Was one that felt most unreal
