Once I Knew A Crow

by Asha   Jan 18, 2007

Once I knew a crow
Wanderin' on the ground
And I asked it "Crow,
What keeps you around?"

It replied, "I'll leave
But then when I return
Nothing seems the same
Eventually I learn

Peace is but a fragment
A fragment of the mind
A piece of mind, I say you
That leaves the world behind

To reach the peace you yearn for
To reach that deep serene
You must push off everything
No matter what they mean

Your life, your friends, your family
Become lost from your heart
And so to reach serenity
You all grow so apart

No longer is it worth it
To seek peace of my own
For sacrificing sanity
Ensures I keep a home

There're others that respect me
And others that I love
And food is all so plentiful
And shelter from above

To me the choice is obvious
Which nest I'd rather weave
And so my question to you is
What makes you want to leave?"
