I knew this day was soon to arive.
Only tears ran down from my eyes,
I didn't want to see him go.
There was only love I had to show.
I wasn't there to say goodbye,
But I knew in my heart I was there by his side.
Our hearts ached for eachother,
And we knew it would be awhile before we'd see one another.
Now he is gone I don't know where he sleeps.
I pray every night that he comes home to me,
God has answered so many prayers.
But I ask him that we get through this.
I try to stay strong for my soldier.
Hoping our hearts don't go even colder,
I know it's his duty to protect our country.
But I only wish you were here with me for eternity.
I'm waiting for my soldier for when he returns.
But that day only the army can confirm,
For now my heart aches,
And I prey that he is not whom God takes.
