Artificial Amnesia And Catching My Breath

by Matt Brak   Jan 19, 2007

You sailed away on that barren sea
My heart in your hand
I'm locking my doors from the inside
Because I can't pretend
That you are here and that I'm OK
Now the tears are near because you've gone away
And the traffic has all stopped to see
Why I'm lying here and I continue to bleed

You sing with the grace of a butterfly
A grace you don't know
You once sung me a lullaby
From a land where I can't go
So please take me there, I'm trapped in this place
And the walls will fall as I displace
Every apathy, lack of energy
Into something more than twisted poetry

Somethings gone wrong, you don't love me, I am lost

This monotone winter is cold and tired
The only season this year
Your motives burn brighter than your paper cuts
That you wash with your tears
Now the ground will sleep and nothing will grow
All the butterflies have flown from this world
A kiss goodbye, a memory erased
A false antidote scratched across my face

Watch your back, you've surrendered to the ghost
Back and forth, a destiny is torn

Somethings gone wrong, you don't love me, I am lost, in my element
I would have slayed any dragon that even looked at you
I'd die if only I could show how much I love you
Now my breath has grown shorter, I wish that I could forget you
Where are you?
