All I wanted was a second Chance

I watch the world go by behind these bars.
Hoping for a second chance.
I see cats and dogs come and go.
It's so noisy as dogs bark and whine and cats meow.
I become anxious and scared.
It's so stressful in here.
I see someone stop at my cage.
I look with loving eyes just wanting a second chance.
I watch them put my food down.
I feel my heart sink as i feel so much sadness.
I must remember not to cry.
I watch some dogs and cats getting another chance.
But why do some dogs and cats go without a new owner and don't come back.
Are they going to a better place?
If so can I go too?
One day someone comes and gets me, my tail is wagging.
They take me to a room and place me on a table.
They lay me down, they are talking to me so softly I become nervous.
I feel a needle in my leg.
My eyes get heavy.
I guess no one wanted me and all i wanted was a second chance thats all.
