Two Sides of the Same Coin

by Paine   Jan 21, 2007

Waking up

To the burning of dawn's ire

How it devours the scene in an awful spectacle

It's manifestation dreadful sight to one

To me

The day shines intensely

Some day I know it will shine too brightly

I'll have to close my eyes to it someday

Sometimes

I desire dusk's diminishing glory

Bask its dying splendor

Breathe in the brilliance of its color

And despise it for not being there long enough

I'm fearful to be blinded

I've been dazed by dawn's radiance

I've longed to turn away

I've kept it in

For far too long

My thoughts turn to dusk

Its left a sear in my memories

My words turn to dust

Left unheard

Unwanted

By dusk

Whispered words disperse in the wind

Love not what escapes you

Fear not what hurts you

Embrace if one returns

And accept the anguish that smothers you

I loved this stanza. Very well written.
