Unconditional love

Lately my mind has been thinking about old relationships
Those once romantic but now simply close friendships
One in particular plagues me daily, I'll never forget it
I always think of why it ended and deeply regret it
We're both adults and communication hasn't ended
Friends eternally, that's something that'd never be suspended
Still, when he crosses my mind my heart races
Visions of him seem to block out other faces
A warm feeling engulfs me, smile crosses my lips
Only thing on my mind, everything else slips
Since that collapsed I've repeatedly been occupied
Though I've tried this is something I can't hide
This is my confession, I don't know how he'll react
Honestly is the best policy, I'll never suppress a fact
Everyday this is something that I have repeatedly pondered
Maybe too much time passed leaving my chances squandered
