Tiny Dancer

TINY DANCER

The candle between the two of us danced a small dance,
performing a ballet to entertain the mood of our social.
I couldn't help but smile as you expelled a burp and giggle,
while patting your lips with the softness of the napkin.
It's been a while since we looked across from one another,
sitting at the same table with the same candle moonlighting our faces.

Our feet seemed to speak their own language as they mingled together,
swapping stories like old school buddies reunited.
This was the closest we'd been from one another since forever,
or at least it seemed in our hearts.
How content my heart beat in my chest, with ease now,
as I stared into your eyes, something I'd been yearning to do,
since I could recall.

A young lady, one for whom leagues of men would fall,
for the one chance to catch a glimpse on the way down;
now sat across from me, between the tiny candle dancer,
in the quaint Italian restaurant, on the corner of Harbor.
Warm pasta was savored with wine, and laughter between us two lovers,
who had yearned to see this day occur for forever and a day.

Brisk cold nipped at my skin as we retired from the Italian joint, hand in hand.
Yet you had remembered how to remedy this with good measure from before.
You pulled me inwards towards your embrace with a smile and bright eyes,
and I fell into my lovers arms with an open hug.
