Winter

by Clark Jacobs   Jan 23, 2007

Snow falls upon my long face
Erased the brown of winter grass
Gently hung upon the trees
Grim skies lay overhead

A lingering thought
And forgotten friend
Walk along my side
Winter calls me

I know you mean well
You want to warm
My hollow heart
And jumpstart my frozen veins

But I look on down the road
And see a dead end straight ahead
Life has drained the love out of me
Borrowed and has never come back

Like a surfboard in winter
Im left behind another day
And when Im not
Its just pointless

Im sure they mean well
They want to party
Their hearts out
And sometimes they forget about surfboards

But I look on down the road
And see a dead end straight ahead
Life has partied the fun out of me
Abused and beaten with no estimate on return

As I stroll along
She will keep loving
They will keep forgetting
And my goals still are unclear

My eyes are getting tired
My coat is losing heat
And my shoes are worn
Yet I keep moving on

But I look on down the road
And see a dead end straight ahead
Life has taught me to keep going
Even if you dont want to

Because I hope before I reach the end
They will have remembered
And that my heart will be returned
Then will my road continue to grow
