Zig Zags In The Pavement

by Some Random Human   Jan 24, 2007

*Well, I have it in my "Songs" folder...*

Life's a funny question,
a funny answer too,
a sick, strange indigestion,
a cancer through and through,
so tell me one good reason,
one good truth to know,
the death of each new season,
the end of every show,
I need a brand new story,
one told many times before,
failure is my glory,
love is my abhor,

Squiggly lines on the sidewalk,
tell you where to go,
zig zags in the pavement,
veering to and fro,
ne'er ever learn the lesson,
never seem to ever know,
zig zags in the pavement,
veering to and fro,

My happiness is saddening,
my sorrow unaware,
the calmness is quite maddening,
this joy is my despair,
now hear me with your eyes,
and watch me with your ears,
hellos are goodbyes,
bravery turns to fears,
speak to me with your fingers,
touch me with your word,
the takers are the bringers,
the understandable, absurd,

Squiggly lines on the sidewalk,
tell you where to go,
zig zags in the pavement,
veering to and fro,
ne'er ever learn the reason,
never seem to ever know,
zig zags in the pavement,
veering to and fro,

I never find my rest,
I never find my goal,
lovers do detest,
hearts as black as coal,
don't deceive me with the truth,
please just tell me lies,
to solve it I need no sleuth,
the mystery's in your eyes,
no, I'll never know you,
yes, you've told me all,
but truth can seldom do,
what lies can with a call,

Squiggly lines on the sidewalk,
tell you where to go,
zig zags in the pavement,
veering to and fro,
ne'er ever learn the lesson,
never seem to ever know,
zig zags in the pavement,
veering to and fro...
