South Turn

by Sea2Summit   Jan 24, 2007

Today I stopped atop this road
where the view was crystal clear
And got a glimpse of what's ahead
then behind and shed a tear

I tried to turn and go your way
to redeem our awful sin
The further I went the farther you got
then I was held back by the wind

Head in hands I took a south turn
but my heart just wouldn't follow
It pushed on to the only one
that could save it from its sorrow

I hope you'll hold it tight with yours
so rightfully together
I'll be happy knowing they're close
and shining bright forever

You'll fill my mind with only happy times
helping to sooth my regret
I thank God for loving you
and ever grateful for the day we met

So, the sun will still come up tomorrow
even if in tears
Continuing on with memories fond
through the remaining years

But tonight I'll reach up to touch your face
in the stars above
And forever live in that most beautiful moment
when I first felt your love

I can actually just visualise this as a journey interwoven with roads and cross junctions of decision throughout life - its a very thought provoking piece - it makes me think about all the good things past lovers have imparted rather than just feeling the anger. Really enjoyed this one.
