Fava

by manic moments   Jan 25, 2007

Fava, I can still see you
With your camera in hand
Your glasses around your neck
Photographing everything where it stands

Fava, I can still hear you
Laughing at your own retorts
Baiting with your silly comments
Arguing with the latest news report

Fava, I can still feel you
As if I was a little girl
With you hugging me tightly
Telling me I ruled the world

Fava, I still smile for you
Everytime you say something
Funny, rude or otherwise
I still smile even though you can't say anything

Fava, I still wait for you
To come home and say its "a okay"
That yesterday was all a lie
And wipe all the tears that stray

Fava, I still remember you
As if you were still alive, beside me
Your hand is no longer in mine
And theres nothing left to see

Fava, I still love you

*** Fava is the way my family say grandfather ***

I read this almost like a song, emphasizing Fava in each stanza...this is really good. You told a story in the lines, and did it beautifully. And I also like how you went gradually from the fun and happy memories, to his sad end.

powerful stuff, you're a great writer

Wow. i'm breathless and in pain. my sunburn hurts from the goosebumps. that's truely beautiful. i can only wish i had a grandfather like that. instead i have 1 who is dead (he was nevr like that) and one who is nealy blind and deaf. he's dieing slowly. no one can truely fully relate to this poem because they don't have that same connection. it's hard for me to explain. all i know is that it is a wonderful poem. u should read it out at the funeral. so many people would love to hear it. i'm here for u to talk to aswell dom. 5/5.
    love u always,
