Paper Heart

by Poetically Speaking   Jan 25, 2007

My Paper Heart within,
unfolds for devoted hands.
Unlocking secrets for the person
who writes to understand.

Scrolled within my paper heart,
are pictures painted of time,
and words she wrote to remember,
which fill every line.

Of when wandering in the city,
bewitched her wild eyed-scene.
And mascara blacker than night,
made her feel a Queen.

With sunny sun sets traced,
on the front of my paper heart.
And sad smiley faces within,
replaying her falling apart.

She scribbles torment despairingly,
while sighing in her broken mask.
Wondering if my heart knows,
why her father denies her past.

Yet between the pages of her pain,
and words inked somber grey.
I add foot-notes to touch the lips,
and give love on a loveless day.

My ordinary Paper Heart,
serves as diary for my Bear.
To you its corners are often sharp,
but to her it shows I care.
