She\'s Deeper Than You Think

by *Charisma*   Jan 25, 2007

She's Deeper Then You Think

He looks at her with unknowing eyes
Laid upon youthful innocence and charm.
At first glance, she seems oblivious
To the world of love, a world of harm.

Too young to comprehend it's hurt
Too naive to understand its pain
How could one so new to this life
Recognize dangers in this game?

But he can't see past her few years
Or the smiles she puts on display.
He is unable to read into her heart
And know of times she's been stabbed away.

Battle scars are beneath her skin,
Hidden within her broken soul
Outside the pieces seem to fit
But inside she's so full of holes.

Many nights she's been up crying
For a love long gone to arguments lost.
Maybe she's young but not unaware
If love were money, she's paid the cost.

If he could get past the makeup
Covering bags and lines of pain
And past the clothing she wears
To hide the hurt she has gained

Than he would know that she's deeper
Than what you think or perceive.
Appearances cannot be trusted
They are truly meant to deceive.

I liked the perspective on this one Charisma. You always change that in your poems which makes each one seem fresh and new.
And as Angelfire said, this poem has the power to really stir up the emotions in a person. I know it did with me.
    5/5 as always

Something about that poem really stirred me. My brother had done that and i remember him talking about how sorry and hurt he felt over what he did. It really made me think. Keep going.

  • Awe, this was so sad. Very well written. I loved it.
