Them

by Baby B   Apr 2, 2004

This poem is about my parents wanting me to be like my older sister and younger brother. Hope it kind of makes sence.

Them

They want me to be like her,
good grades,
good friends,
into sports...
They want me to be like him,
an all star,
no trouble,
good kid...
They want me to be like them,
one older,
one younger,
both happy...
They want me to be perfect,
someone who’s not me,
to walk upward,
to walk backward
They don’t know me
but they know them
They want me to be like them!

I know how it feels to have parents with too high of expectations and it really can bring a person down but what you have to realize is that after you get away from them all that matters is what you want and what you feel and what you need-it is hard to learn what you truly want but you can do it-and i hope your relationship with them gets better.
