One Bright Star

by Lyndsay Kalyta   Jan 28, 2007

It only takes the light
Of one bright star in the sky
To take away the night
And catch the tears when I cry

This star is really special to me
It helped shape who I am today
No one else can truly see
I'd die if that star went away

Its light shows me the ways of good
And darkens the paths of trouble
I'd take it out of the sky if I could
But I'd be left in the dark to stumble

Everywhere I've ever gone
My star has followed close
And everytime I'd choose the wrong
My star would teach me to oppose

My star has seen me cry
When times didn't go my way
It helped me through unwanted good-byes
Always having encouraging words to say

We have shared so much laughter
Me and my bright star
We can talk for hours and hours
No matter the distance, we aren't ever far

I'd fail in this difficult life
Without this star of mine
I'm thankful you are my star so bright
For a star like you is hard to find
