RIP Grandma

We all knew it was coming
Just not this soon
It was just a normal day
A normal afternoon

I remember falling asleep
Watching a movie with my friend
I had no idea, I wasn't expecting
A great night to meet such an end

My phone went off
I was still half asleep
I said "hello"
And heard my mom weep

"Rachel I'm sorry
For having to call
But your grandmother died"
She started to bawl

I couldn't believe it
My eyes filled with tears
After all she'd been sick
For the past few years

I guess I never thought
She'd actually die
And while my friend hugged me
I started to cry

My mom hung up
I went back to bed
Hoping tomorrow
She wasn't really dead

But morning came quickly
And the news was the same
At least she's in heaven now
And doesn't feel pain

Grandma I love you
And we all miss you so
I just wish that it wasn't
Your time to go...
