He's an orphan

by Heather   Jan 29, 2007

They say he's just to young,
he doesn't yet understand.
They tell him When he's older it will make sense,
That's what they want him to believe.

He sits staring at the papers,
as if it's in code.
It says he's an orphan,
According to the state.
But how can that be,
when his father lives just down the street.

They told him it's complicated,
and that he didn't have to worry no more.
He stood and stared out the window and slowly bowed his head,
then with a sad look apron his face he looked up and said, "daddy left again. with no goodbye. just like the last times."
