My dear old friend

by Alissa   Jan 30, 2007

Childhood memories flooding back,
remembering the grass between my toes,
the sunshine feeling upon my face.
I miss you so much.

The three of us as kids,
playing tag under the raindrops.
the wind blowing as I ran after you.
Missing each moment.

As I grow I see myself change,
moving away from you and forgetting.
Turned away and didn't look back.
Letting the happiness go.

Days pass turning into years.
I talk to boys now in different ways than before.
I see them as lovers not friends.
But I see you still as before.

I hear the phone ring, wait for it to be someone else.
I hear a voice, different and strange.
Turns out to be someone,
someone like you.

My stomach turns and remembers.
I feel horrible for forgetting.
I let myself grow too fast.
I miss these talks like before.

I won't let another year pass without a word,
I promise,
my dear old friend.

Wow...that is touching, it is almost of what my childhood was like. A dear old friend that I've missed for so long. 5/5
