That Night Under the Moon

That Night Under the Moon

In the darkness, you ventured to me
against all the world, I loved you
we were drawn by the voices of the stars
to come together in this time of separation
It was so late in shade, but not too late for us
Brushing away warning, a knock on my window
A burden lifted as i saw your gracious face
The cool night air swirled around your warmness
Oh it was an embrace I'll never forget

That night under the moon
We looked up together at its light
Shining, bathing its pale fullness
down upon us. forever as one tonight.
You kissed me in this calm silence
Oh how i yearned to howl for all the world
To hear as i professed my love to you!
Your gentle forgiving sweetness
was like a touch of cinnamon on my lips

I would have told you all i wanted to
right then and there, but something...
Kept me from slicing open this wound
The light across the street, the shadow
A figure in the window, i looked away
safely falling into your cloudless eyes
forever in my heart, I'll see you this way
Endearing this night, kept ever the same!

Upon the steps of the porch in the darkness
We held each other through the cold, the pain
I held you like someone so broken
You, the missing piece to my young heart
loving you under the lamppost light
Embracing in the wind, our hair flowing
passion danced around us like magic!

Hands down, this was one of the best nights
I could ever remember, the dimming dreams
colliding into reality, these wet streets
these locked gates, these glass windows
could never stop us! No, not this night!

And with one last breath, one last touch
you stood at my door with your hands in mine
and kissed me like you meant, oh how you meant it!

That night under the moon...
It was only me. It was only you.
