Young Friendship

by Caroline   Jan 30, 2007

I still remember the day we became friends
It's imprinted in my mind
The very first day of kindergarten
The word friendship was defined.

I was playing in the sandbox
While you were on the swings
We glanced at each other for a second
Never knowing what it would bring.

Suddenly, I heard "Hey! It's my turn!"
I dropped my shovel and my pail
I saw you get pushed off by Richard
You squeezed your eyes and wailed.

I quickly ran over to see the end result
I shoved Richard off the swing
"Weenie! That's not nice!"
Being a five year old, that's a major sting.

That little fat slob ran off crying
I helped you get off your knees
From then on, we became best friends
So young, so naive.

We're both almost fifteen now
Inseparable as before
Just wait till we're eighteen
The world won't know what they're in for

You and I so different
But the same in all the right ways
I'm the shoulder you lean on
You're the smile on my face

I love you angel
I couldn't ask more from a friend
Words can't describe our bond
There's nothing in the world that can.
