Mother's Hands

by ben thompson   Jan 31, 2007

Mother's hands calmed my fears.
Helped me through the early years.
She kept me clean and kept me fed.
She read me stories before bed.

Mother's hands showed right from wrong.
Treat others with respect, our rule all along.
She taught me to help others when you can.
One day you may need a helping hand.

Mother's hands labored long and hard.
She kept busy keeping troubles a far.
She always cooked and cleaned the house.
In between shifts she ran about.

Mothers hands have weakened, shes become ill.
Now her daily routine centers around pills.
She now needs others to help her out.
Her lessons come full circle, thats what life's about.

Mother's hands now have mine to hold.
She's scared, she fears death's darkening cold.
But warmth will greet her on the other side.
Dad will hold mom's hand as she's held mine.

love you mom. written by ben thompson

Aww this poem is so sad but sweet as well. I really like it, it reminds me of how I feel with my mother, my mother's sick as well so shes taking pills all day to. It's amazing the love they can give you theres no replacing it. I'm a young mother now and I can see where she came from when she raised me. Well before I ramble on I just want to say again this is beautiful poem.
