Regret

by SilentRebuke   Feb 1, 2007

A brief moment in time, a single blink
For that lapse of thought there is consequence,
It feels as though I've started to sink
My guilt appeared then and every second since

I don't know what happened, how it got this far
I can't find my way back from this path
Someone will help me, but I don't who they are
And I'm still terrified I will incur their wrath

Why didn't I listen, why didn't i stop before
I couldn't consider the problems caused
Just had to let my treacherous heart soar
Now how I wish I had simply paused.

A/N- A friend of mine recently got into some life-changing trouble with her boyfriend, I wrote this from her point of view. Please r/r/c

The last two lines were simply spectacular. 'Treacherous heart', indeed! Good poem.

WOW! You are sooo good! Your ending to this was like the punch in the poem and it was amazing. I think this poem has touched me the most thus far!

This really is good, Girl. You did an excellent job writing from this point of view. And so many...too many...teens think too late about what they've done, instead of just stopping and saying no. So sorry this happened to her. But I'm sure she'll get the strength she needs. Keep strong (just like with everyone else that's done this) (*sigh*)
