What Friend are you?

by sarah   Feb 3, 2007

Darkness falls across the sky
And in a breath escapes a sigh,
Oh why doth this feeling so strange?
Like swirling masses of inexplicable change,
Oh, I ask, what friend are you?
To try a shoe
And so quick to turn to something new!

Oh vile betrayer
Your hurt runs deep!
That twists and turns like a snake!
Oh what friendship we did have?
Has now fluttered and flown,
The grown chick of an ostrich nest

Oh woe betide the feelings of hurt,
Which fall and scatter like pieces of dirt,
Oh, and then, to hide the insufferable pain,
That soon becomes like droplets of rain,
Which rise and rise,
And turn to flood
Where there I drown deep among the mud
