Special Memories

by Connie   Feb 3, 2007

Memories grow more precious
Of those carefree childhood days
Jumping rope and playing hopscotch
With our neighborhood friends all day.

Sunday visits with the grandparents
Food and laughter all around
Knowing and enjoying one another
That's what it's really all about.

Was this poem supposed to rhyme? I couldn't tell because you used 'days' and 'day', which dont rhyme because they are essentially the same word and 'around' and 'about' don't rhyme, either, unless you say it in a funny way.

You should've gone on with the poem. It seems uncomplete, as if you took a saw and cut out middle part. Feels like something is missing from it.

I did enjoy the poem, although, at the end, you could've been more clear on what you meant by 'that's what it's all about'. What's 'it'? Life? Memories? Childhood? I couldn't tell.

    Good poem.
